Thus far, a majority of relief efforts have been providing crises aid packages that sustain families for an average of 15 days. This leaves zero wage workers still in uncertainty on their food security for their family and does little to alleviate panic. To provide zero wage families with a sense of calm and certainty on basic food security beyond the immediate term, we have launched an Adopt a Family initiative. Each donation allows you to adopt one or more zero wage families for 3 months for a total of INR 6,000 (US$ 86) per family.

The Covid-19 pandemic that became a hunger crisis, is transforming into an unprecedented social disruption and catastrophe with widespread panic. Most zero wage families have lost all sources to income and will stare into the face of starvation for long after the lockdown. We need to change immediate food aid to longer-term unity. We now call on you to step forward with us for every family needing longer-term food security.  It is only in unity that we will be able to overcome this crisis.

Each monthly meal kit contains –

​

  • 10 kgs whole wheat flour.

  • 6 kgs rice.

  • 4 kgs dal (lentils).

  • 1 litre of oil.

  • 4 soaps.

  • Masalas & spices (chilly powder, turmeric, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, kitchen king masala - 200gms each).

  • Tea.
